Help us fix this

Tell us what went wrong. Please leave out private messages, residency documents, passwords, and sign-in codes.

Add an email if you'd like us to follow up.

Off until you choose it. Keeps up to 10 minutes or 100 technical events on this device, only while this page session is open. This activity history is uploaded only when you include it in a report. No typed text or screen recordings.

Including technical details also links up to five recent crash references shown below. Anonymous crash monitoring runs separately; your description and activity history stay in Steppe.

Privacy

We have nothing to gain from your data.

Most platforms bury privacy in a menu. Steppe is building it into the beta: no ads, no behavioral trackers, and no business model that depends on your information.

Last updated August 2026
Our commitments

Six promises we keep.

a.

We never sell your data

Steppe's model does not sell member information. The beta is free; planned member subscriptions fund the service instead of advertising.

b.

No advertising, no ad-tech

No third-party trackers, no advertising pixels, and no behavioral profiles. Nothing watches what you do in order to sell you something or to someone later.

c.

Verification proof is temporary by design

The beta is not yet accepting residency proof. Before it does, deletion after review and orphan cleanup must be verified end to end. The retained record will contain only the verification result, date, and method. It will not contain the document or legal name.

d.

Your profile is private by default

Every personal field starts hidden. You choose, one at a time, whether it is visible to no one or to all members. Your verification status stays visible. If you are a moderator, that role stays visible too.

e.

Messages stay inside Steppe

The intended app limits a conversation to its two participants and gives moderators no message reader. Reliable account deletion and session revocation remain beta launch gates. A safety excerpt another participant chooses to report may remain as report intake.

f.

Access, export, and deletion are launch gates

Before beta invitations, Steppe must verify that account export is complete, deletion removes ordinary account data and sent messages, sessions lose authority, and only minimized integrity records remain.

Optional beta bug reports

You choose whether to record technical steps for a bug report. Up to 100 events from the last 10 minutes stay in this page session until you choose to send them. These describe pages, actions, and errors without typed text, private messages, sign-in codes, or screen recordings. You can review or omit diagnostics. Submitted reports are private to designated Steppe support, expire after 30 days, and are deleted by scheduled cleanup. Reports sent while signed in are included in account export and deletion. Support email alerts contain a reference and sign-in link, without the report content. Downloaded copies and provider backups follow their own retention settings.

The record

What we collect, and why.

Only what the beta needs to run a verified community designed for member governance. Nothing is kept “just in case.”

Account basicsRequired
Your email is used to sign you in. You also choose a display name so neighbors know who they are talking to.
While a memberdeletion must pass the beta gate
Dues & paymentNot in free beta
The beta is free. When paid membership begins, Gregory Chism will administer member subscriptions directly and the payment provider will be disclosed before collection starts.
Not collectedduring beta
Residency checkNot open yet
The intended flow uses proof of local residence for one human decision, then deletes the proof and keeps only the result, date, and method. Collection stays closed until cleanup is verified.

What you postYou choose
Listings, messages, group activity, and votes. The intended deletion flow removes sent messages and anonymizes integrity-required voting and moderation records; that flow must pass security verification before beta.

Your rights

You're in charge of it.

See itReview the account records covered by the beta access process.
Export itA complete, tested export is required before beta invitations.
Correct itFix anything that's wrong, any time.
Delete itThe beta cannot open until account deletion, message cleanup, and session revocation work together reliably.

This page describes the privacy behavior Steppe intends to verify before opening the beta, not a claim that every control is already production-ready. Gregory Chism handles member data. Ignite handles sponsored responsibilities other than member subscriptions, and either Gregory or Ignite may handle a contract when that contract names them. Residency-proof cleanup, complete export, account deletion, and session revocation remain launch gates. The full draft policy carries the formal detail.
